Matteo Ward is the CEO of Inside Out Fashion, Textiles & Home and CEO and co-founder of WRÅD, a design and innovation studio working to support the responsible evolution of the textile and fashion industry. His work sits at the intersection of design, culture, science, and public affairs, helping companies, institutions, and organisations rethink materials, products, and narratives within an industry undergoing big structural change. WRÅD joined the global collective Inside Out, founded and led by Suzy Amis Cameron, whose mission is to advance planetary and human health through systems change. Within this context, Matteo leads the Fashion, Textiles & Home division, expanding the impact of the work developed since 2015 through collaborations with research institutions such as MIT and partnerships with international brands including Salvatore Ferragamo, Essilorluxottica, Acqua di Parma and Vestiaire Collective. Before founding WRÅD, Matteo worked at Abercrombie & Fitch, where he served as Senior Manager and co-chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Council. Alongside his entrepreneurial work, Matteo contributes to the global conversation on sustainability and culture. He serves as Vice President of Fashion Revolution Italia, is a FAO Food Hero for the United Nations, and has contributed as a textile expert for the European Commission. He is also a lecturer, public speaker, and media author. Matteo is the co-author and host of JUNK, a documentary series produced by Sky Italia and Will Media that investigates the global impact of fast fashion. In 2024, he published two books, Story of a T-Shirt with the FAO and FUORIMODA! with Mondadori DeAgostini. His work has been recognised internationally. Matteo was included by Vogue Business among the Top 100 Fashion Innovators worldwide and by Capital among the 40 people shaping the future of Italy. Over the course of his career, he has received recognitions including the RedDot Best of the Best Design Award, the EcoAge Renaissance Award, the Montecarlo Fashion Week Impact Award andand the Tao Award for his contribution to advancing sustainability education in fashion.
